Until the last century, sailors from all over the world thirsting for fun used to disembark at Cais do Sodré. Here there were plenty of bars with names of european capitals and ladies of love willing to love by the hour. It was the bohemian center of the city, where bourgeois, writers, fado singers, spies and prostitutes shared passions.
After a period of decadence and abandonment, Cais do Sodré was reborn with the opening of Pensão Amor in 2011.
It quickly became an icon of a new Lisbon, open to the world, but proud of its identity. After a thorough restoration completed in 2022, Pensão Amor came to life even more and, in mid 2023, opens its doors to a trip back in time: the Madam’s Lodge.
This is a unique experience, which invites you to inhabit the harlots’ rooms and discover the never revealed secrets of this old wharf brothel.

In this space, full of nooks and crannies, love is lived and prejudices are annulled to dance freely and to toast life with the famous signature cocktails.

Pensão Amor was reborn to embrace the modern “seafarers”, who visit Lisbon to discover this vibrant city full of culture and tradition.
The various rooms, decorated with life and art, are sometimes dance floors, sometimes stages for surprise pole dance shows, sensual burlesque presentations themed parties, poetry meetings, plays and lots of live music.
There is even a ``girlfriend on duty`` for the lonely hearts.
No wonder they have become the most desired parties in Lisbon’s nightlife scene.

Madam's Lodge marks 60 years since the prohibition of prostitution in Portugal and pays tribute to the life stories of the masters of seduction.
